What’s a Grapple Saw?
The Tree Fella does most of its tree removals with a grapple saw truck. The truck can often be positioned on the driveway or moved closer on matts, allowing us to work in much tighter areas than conventional stick-boom cranes.
The grapple saw is attached to the end of an 80-foot telescoping knuckle boom with a max vertical reach of 92 feet and a max weight capacity of about 6000 lbs. The knuckle midway in the boom allows for reach over buildings, electric lines, and other trees.
The grapple saw is used to grab a portion of the tree and cut it off. The cut-off portion can be rotated and lowered into a safe area for processing. This eliminates the need for a climber or cutter in the tree in many situations, speeds up the removal process, and nearly eliminates lawn damage.
